Research context
DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood. Schoenenberger and Monnier (1977) described its isolation and its effect on EEG patterns in rabbits. Graf and Kastin (1986) later reviewed the experimental literature on its reported neuroendocrine and electrophysiological activity. DSIP remains a subject of laboratory study in animal and in vitro models, and its mechanism of action is still debated. Published findings come from experimental systems and are not evidence of effects in people. Researchers should follow their own validated protocol for solvent choice, assay conditions and handling, and review the batch certificate of analysis before use.
